there is a working toilet
must go off the porch instead
no neighbors, no wandering eyes
he’s a boy
no surprise
farm life has its perks
ways to think freely

BIG BLUE:
we share the same birth year
we shared the miles and the weight
we shared the load of every trip down memory lane
some days he would go,
others he would plow all the snow
there were a few times he was down,
didn't take long for Papaw to fix us sound
a good workhorse, with racks of red
your backside was busted once and rebuilt with steel
you broke down one time, and so did we
you were adored from travelers near and far
there was no way you were leaving this old farm
you put in your years, as did we
time came to an end only after desperate need
we had plans, some good, some selfish
in the end, you are all rebuilt with a new job
sit there and look pretty BIG BLUE
you have new fans and people to look after you
i cried when you were towed down the driveway
there was no way i could continue to carry your ton
you were loved by all of us, even by my son

Just like Murphy,
Mamaw had her way
Tho things didn't go to plan
Every month, or every minute, of every day
Can't sit, always time to fret
Fences down, deer abound
and trees all around
Time is now she would be
The list adds up,
there are more trees
Murphy struck, at his own hand
There was always something to do, to fix, or to man
Yes Aggie, was the way to go
Yes Mamaw, we all know
All farm hands on duty, neighbors too
We all had a hand in
what she wanted to do
Bark or snuff,
yeah she was that way
But things got done,
by the end of the day
After all these years,
her voice still rings in my ear
I do know better and
I know not to fear
